Drupalcon Prague - day one

Single image:
Body:

The day started early in Prague for several hundred developers, gathering to watch the great traditional opening session by Jam and Robert Douglass. Apparently, this was the first time that Robert could not be there in person, but Jam did a great job in entertaining the people. It was a great piece of musical and play act work, performing a „hacked opera“ of the magic fluet, and about a noob getting touched with the community. There where songs, tears and jokes, very amusing.

Explaining the new routing system in Drupal 8: The Kernel

Single image:
Body:

As written on the previous blog entry we want to convert the request to a response. One example of a response could be the HTML page you currently see, some access denied page or just some JSON used as web service.

The object which is responsible for that is called the HTTP Kernel.

How to install Apache, PHP, MySQL, drush, Drupal on FreeBSD 9

For sure, there are plenty enviroments on which Drupal can be run. But often it is not clear how to get started. Therefore I will explain a very common way to run drupal on a FreeBSD System. Most of the steps should be almost the same on a Linux system.

Explaining the new routing system in Drupal 8 (blog series)

Body:

There has been a lot of blog posts how to use the new hook_menu/page callback equivalent in Drupal 8 (http://effulgentsia.drupalgardens.com/content/drupal-8-hello-oop-hello-… for a great reference) on that.

On the other hand these posts don't cover how the routing system actually works, so here comes a series of posts, how the routing system works in Drupal 8.

The basic part.

The really basic idea behind the symfony control flow is the following:

How to use Chosen with Drupal 7

Single image:
Body:

The standard Drupal implementation for select-type fields just uses a simple HTML-select input. Well, it works. But if you want to provide a simpler and way more elegant form for your users, it might be a good idea to use the jQuery chosen plugin for Drupal.

If you want to have a closer look, please visit the demo page at: http://harvesthq.github.io/chosen/

Currently the recommended version is the git version. If you want to install it, you are welcome to read the following Howto.

This small blog post will show how to run unit tests in storm and directly access the test coverage based upon that.

If you want to use the shell, have a look at the following post

Drupal 8 #dreammarkup

Body:

Now once TWIG was commited to core, I‘d like to talk a bit about the unofficial dreammarkup initiative. It‘s about getting the core templates clean and down to their needs, reducing the markup and class overad to semanticly right and usable markup to start with. If you are interested in getting involved, you can check out http://drupal.org/node/1980004 or search in the issue queue for the dreammarkup tag.

Portland - Persönlicher Erfahrungsbericht

21 Jahre Jung, mein erster Tag in Amerika.
